Vegetable Garden

Thanks, Aunt Sarah, for the new addition to Kiran's garden! Also, we've learned from last time: We water the garden in a swimmy diaper and no clothes. :-)

My happy little farmer.

Carefully weeding and thinning.

Fetching water.

So nice and neat -- filling her watering can over the pool.

Watering. And wearing Dada's flip flops. We're four weeks into the project and this city kid still doesn't like mulch on her feet!

Memorial Day

Future generations are thankful!

Kiran posing beautifully.

Amara looking sweet, but not being her usual, smiley self. I think this February baby didn't know what to do with high 90's heat!

Kiran soup

Carefully preparing the Kiran soup.

Gracefully sipping.

Tasting.

Delicious!

For Dada

"Dada, I know how much you like to scoop things out of the pool. So, I found all these leaves in the back yard and put them in for you."

Smithsonian Natural History Museum

Dada teaching Kiran about herbivorous dinos.

She loved the little dinos. I love this photo.

Kiran and one of her many new friends in the mammal room.

Amara-bee. Considerably less excited about finding a real zebra to match her car-seat zebra than I was.

Formal family portrait. Amara, Kiran, Richard, and...???

Vegetable Garden

Two weeks in and stuff is growing!! Kiran is carrying her watering can very carefully so she doesn't spill a drop.

Watering very carefully.

Watering less carefully.

More wawa please!

Watering herself. That's the end of today's watering. :-)

Child Photographer's Worst Nightmare

The child photographer in me HATES that Kiran has learned to do the cheesy kid smile. But the mom in me thinks it's frickin' adorable.

Farm

We took a trip to Old Maryland Farm at Watkins Regional Park.

Here's Kiran posing with her Dada and the pig (I think she was a little disappointed that it wasn't little and pink).
Kiran was totally unwilling to tear her attention from the ducks for a picture. I was equally unwilling to comply with signage that interfered with my daughter's ability to see said ducks.
Dada and Kiran.
Mama, Kiran, and a proud Llama who really enjoyed having his picture taken. He reminds me somehow of Guinness wearing a headband.
Kiran taking Amara-Bee to see the cows.
Sheep checking out Kiran.
A Baa!
Devil chickens.

Vegetable Garden

A fun project for Kiran, and my attempt to teach her that food doesn't have to come from the grocery store. :-)

Reading the directions on the back of the seed packages. Mamma does NOT have a green thumb...

Hoeing. Kiran clearly needs this project, as she preferred to hoe the concrete.

Planting radishes.

Schnitzel helping us to plant radishes.

Guinness helping us to plant radishes.

Ooh, carrot seeds.

Everyone helping to plant the carrots.

Cucumbers. So much for the directions...Kiran just dumped them out!

Watering our vegetable garden (sort of!). This will be Kiran's chore for the next few weeks...

Royal Wedding

Kiran WAS watching the royal wedding in her PJs with a tiara on (I love to bait my husband...). When he came upon the scene, he removed the tiara, put her in his own favorite Fourth of July t-shirt, and got her to say that she hates tyranny
